Kitchen Support

When: 3 Hours: T, TH, F 11a - 2p

Position Requires Training / Shadowing before scheduling shifts

Requirements: Food Handler’s Permit (paid by Lake Ballinger Center if asked)

One of our programs includes a nutrition program from Homage that operates out of our commercial grade kitchen.

Kitchen support will need their food handler’s permit to be in the kitchen.

Tasks include:

  • Cleanup Duty:

    • setting out and monitoring the bussing station

      • Swap backup and active bussing station as need during meal services

      • Wash dishes as needed

      • Prepare the backup bussing station

      • repeat

    • running loads of dishes in our commercial dishwasher

    • Collect Trashes, merge recycles and take to dumpsters

    • Clean Surfaces

    • Wipe down of tables

    • progressively clean sink after each use

  • Put dishes away
    Because of the need to air-dry, putting dishes away could be a separate task.

  • Lunch day Sign Put up and Take down.

HOW TO…

  • General rules of use:

    • prime with hot water

    • avoid overlap

    • knives lay flat

  • Washing Utensils

    • 1 time on a flat tray, generally avoiding overlap. You’ll likely be doing several “small” batches.

    • 1 time in the utensil holders

    • Let Air Dry in utensil holders (30 minutes)
